You’re never too old

This is the smile of a little girl who is being well loved. A child who has been patiently bathed in her Nanna’s laundry trough. Hair washed and dried and dressed in a night gown made of flannelette and cotton lace trim hand sewn by the hands of her grandmother just for her. This is the smile of a child who feels safe and important.

When I was little I was very close to my grandparents. We had a very special connection throughout my entire life. I have endless memories of them both and even though I said my last goodbye to my grandmother fourteen years ago and my grandfather just two years ago my love for them both, remains strong and I think of them often. I am of their flesh and blood. It’s hard to imagine the rest of my life without them but at the same time I don’t exactly feel as though I am without them. The love and connection has not diminished with time - how magical is that?! That we carry the love with us, always.

This might sound silly or strange but when I have elderly clients, I feel so privileged to be trusted to care for them. I know first hand and can imagine all the care and toil their bodies have poured out to those they love, the joys and sorrows they’ve experienced along the way and the grief that they too carry in their hearts. It touches me deeply to be trusted to give a little back. It’s a privilege and a joy. I feel the love and take good care ✨

My eldest clients are in their late 80’s. So you really are never too old to receive the gift of touch!
